Queens senior Polina Lapshina took down the 100 fly NCAA Division II record on Thursday night at the Division II Swimming and Diving Championships with a 52.16. That swim took down Theresa Michalak’s record of 52.33 from 2017.

Lapshina is listed as a junior but she is swimming in her first season with Queens in the United States. Lapshina won the 50 free earlier in the meet as she swam a 22.34 on Wednesday night in Indianapolis. She has also swam on the winning the 200 free relay earlier in the night.

It was expected to be a battle for the win and the record between Lapshina and Drury junior Bailee Nunn (53.05) but it was all Lapshina in the final. Simon Fraser’s Kaleigh Sharkey (53.39) finished in third as she had a huge best time for the bronze.

Queens continued to pile on the points as junior Georgia DaCruz (53.46) finished in fourth as the top four were all under 54 seconds.

Western State’s Randi Yarnell (54.19), West Chester’s Ann Carozza (54.40), Azusa Pacific’s Elodie Poo-Cheong (54.88) and Simon Fraser’s Jessie Gibson (55.19) also competed in the final.
