NEW COMMIT: The University of Minnesota has gained a new in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Vadnais Heights, Minn. sprinter Pyper Doo.

Doo swims year-round with North Suburban Aquatic Club and owns a pair of U.S. Open cuts. She most recently competed at Rochester Speedo Sectionals where she earned gold in the 50m free, silver in the 100m free and bronze in the 200m free after finaling in the 100 free at Juniors West in December. She won two events at the Minnesota LCM Championships before recording a trio of top-10 finishes at Rochester Futures this past summer. Also competing for Roseville High School, Doo won the 100 free and placed second in the 50 free at the Minnesota State Championships during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I chose Minnesota because its the best place for me to be. I know that being a gopher will help me succeed in my future in and out of the pool.”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.06
  • 100 free – 49.60
  • 200 free – 1:50.07
  • 100 back – 55.16

When she suits up for Minnesota at the start of the 2020-21 season, Doo will add her talents to a sprint group that’ll include Olivia Bloomer and Mackenzie Paddington. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 free as well as the C-final of the 50 free at the 2019 Big Ten Championships where the Gophers finished fourth overall in the team standings.
