NEW COMMIT: Purdue University has kicked off recruiting for the Class of 2022 with a verbal commitment from Zionsville, Indiana’s Tessa Wrightson.

She’s primarily a backstroker and freestyler at Zionsville Swim Club. Her best times are:

  • 50 Back 26.46
  • 100 Back 53.88
  • 200 Back 1:58.88
  • 50 Free 23.18
  • 100 Free 50.44
  • 200 Free 1:49.25

Wrightson is a senior at Zionsville Community High School. She’s had an extensive, successful high school swimming career for the team at the always impressive Indiana High School swimming state championships. At last year’s meet she earned her highest places thus far, earning silver in the 50 freestyle in 23.18 and picking up a bronze in the 100 backstroke with a 54.27.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American will be a big addition to the Boilermakers. At the 2017 Big Ten Championship Wrightson would have been a 100 backstroke B finalist. Her lifetime best also would have been the team’s top finisher, making her an immediate medley relay threat.
