Swimming World and the International Swimming Hall of Fame reached an exciting milestone by announcing an official partnership with two-time Australian Olympian Brett Hawke and his highly successful podcast, “Inside with Brett Hawke.” This partnership will elevate the exposure of the Swimming World/ISHOF brand and Hawke’s podcast, while enhancing the spotlight on the athletes who are the centerpiece of the sport.

009 AHMED HAFNAOUI RULED INELIGIBLE FOR NCAA SEASON; WILL NOT COMPETE AT INDIANA UNTIL FALL 2023

Tunisia’s Ahmed Hafnaoui, who won the men’s 400 freestyle from Lane 8 at the Tokyo Olympics, announced soon after that he would compete for Indiana University beginning with the 2022-23 season. However, IU head coach Ray Looze reported that Hafnaoui is not eligible to compete this season for academic reasons, but expects him to compete beginning in the fall of 2023.

Hampered by a foot injury and lack of competition this summer, Adam Peaty is now preparing for the World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne, Australia, Dec. 13-18. It will mark the first short course Worlds for Peaty since Doha 2014, where he won three silver medals.

Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) has brought significant changes to the NCAA in all sports. It is more commonly looked at in the sports of football and basketball, but it has also brought significance to the realm of college swimming. Through NIL, athletes are able to partner with brands to help market themselves, which under previous NCAA rules was not allowed.

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers was recently inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame. Grevers grew up in Lake Forest, Ill., and swam at Northwestern University just outside Chicago.
