NEW COMMIT: Princeton University has scored a new verbal commitment* for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Jaime Chen of Bellevue, Wash.

She will join Acton, Mass. native Isabella Korbly as a member of the Tigers’ class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to the application process at Princeton! I’m looking forward to both swimming and studying at this amazing school. Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends who have supported me along the way. Go Tigers! ?”

A versatile swimmer, Chen does her club swimming with Bellevue Club Swim Team and owns several U.S. Open and Junior National standards. She placed 11th in the 200 fly at Juniors West in December before going on to register six top-6 finishes at Pacific Northwest Seniors. Last summer, she raced to sixth in the 200m IM and seventh in the 200m fly at Mount Hood Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 24.77
  • 100 fly – 54.11
  • 200 fly – 1:59.52
  • 200 IM – 2:02.03

  • 200 free – 1:50.49
  • 100 breast – 1:03.97

Also competing for Newport High School, Chen is a six-time Washington 4A State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 free and grabbed bronze in the 200 IM as a junior while taking second and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

She led her team to their third-straight WIAA 4A state title in 2019 while also swimming on the victorious 4×50 free and 4×100 free relays.
