Portugal’s Gustavo Madureira Draws Anti-Doping Warning

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 4. FINA announced today that Portugal's Gustavo Madureira has drawn a warning from the Portuguese Swimming Federation after testing positive for the substance Terbutaline. The positive test occurred at the Portuguese National Team Championships on Dec. 18, 2011.

Terbutaline is on the World Anti-Doping Agency's prohibited use list, but can be used with a Therapeutic Use Exemption in advance. Typically, the drug is utilized to delay preterm labor when the child requires help with lung maturity.
