Poll of the Week: Should College Swimmers Earn Money in Off-Season? (Results)

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 19. LAST week we wanted to know what you thought about college swimmers being able to earn prize money at swim meets like the Arena Grand Prix during the NCAA off-season, and the response was overwhelmingly in favor of it. A little more than 60 percent said let them keep all the money they earn in the off-season, while 10.7 percent said they should only be able to earn up to a certain amount. Almost 15 percent said they should be allowed to earn money during the NCAA season as well. And 14.4 percent of voters said college athletes should not be able to earn prize money.

Let's move on to our new poll, which is bringing back the topic of FINA's decision to discuss the idea of allowing swimmers to do an unlimited number of dolphin kicks up to 15 meters off the start of any breaststroke race. Do you think FINA should vote to allow this rule change to breaststroke, or should it stay at the status quo? Go to our home page on swimmingworld.com and vote in our poll on the right side of the page. We'll bring you the results next week.
