Polish Long Course Nationals: Polish Relay Record Falls; Mateusz Sawrymowicz Nearly Clears 15:00 in 1500 Free

OSTROWIEC SWIETOKRZYSKI, Poland, May 22. THE Polish Long Course Nationals pulled down the curtains on a four-day affair with a national record in the women's 400 medley relay. Meanwhile, a few world-ranked individual times also went up on the scoreboard.

Anna Porzelska, Mirela Olczak, Paulina Zachoszcz and Alicja Tchorz set a Polish record in the women's 400 medley relay with a 4:12.11. That effort smashed the 2010 national mark of 4:15.76. Meanwhile, Radoslaw Kawecki, Tomasz Rumianowski, Adam Plutecki and Jakub Jasinski took the men's 400 medley relay title in 3:46.49.

Mateusz Sawrymowicz improved to fourth in the world rankings in the men's 1500 free with a 15:00.82. Only Sun Yang (14:42.52), Samuel Pizzetti (14:56.47) and Yosuke Miyamoto (14:57.56) have been faster so far this year. Pawel Korzeniowski finished second in 15:19.73, while Karol Zaczynski took third in 15:32.23.

Konrad Czerniak ripped through the men's 100 free in 48.76. That effort pushed him to 14th in the world rankings, just ahead of Danila Izotov's 48.77 from last month. Marcin Tarczynski touched second in 50.79, while Daniel Rzadkowski tied Lukasz Gasior for third with matching 51.06s.

Dawid Szulich tied for 23rd in the world rankings in the men's 100 breast with a victorious time of 1:01.18. Daniel Gyurta of Hungary has a matching season best from January. Slawomir Kuczko finished second in 1:03.38, while Filip Rowinski wound up third in 1;03.53.

Katarzyna Wilk topped the women's 100 free in 55.60, while Katarzyna Staszkiewicz took second in 57.00. Sonia Wiechec placed third in 57.05. Weronika Paluszek won the women's 100 breast in 1:10.57, while Agnieszka Ostrowska touched just behind with a second-place 1:10.75. Ewa Sceiszko also cleared 1:11 with a third-place 1:10.88.

Anna Dowgiert captured the women's 50 fly title in 27.16, while Marcelina Radlinska placed second in 28.00. Sara Skrzydlo finished third in 28.14. Marcin Babuchowski earned the men's 50 fly crown in 24.58. Adam Plutecki (24.72) and Maciej Lewandowski (24.83) completed the podium.

Paula Zukowska snagged the women's 800 free win in 8:51.37, while Donata Kilijanska finished second in 8:51.64. Natalia Charlos wound up third in 8:51.66.
