Polish Championships: Zuzanna Mazurek Crushes National Record in 200 Back

OSTROWIEC, Poland, April 3. ZUZANNA Mazurek not only crushed the Polish record in the women's 200 back at the Polish Championships, she also cleared the FINA A cut Olympic qualifying time.

Mazurek completed the swim with a time of 2:12.65 to smash the previous national record of 2:14.43 set by Aleksandra Miciul in 2000.

Tomasz Rumianowski came within a second of a 12-year-old national record in the men's 200 back when he hit the wall in 2:00.81. However, Bartosz Sikora's 1996 standard of 2:00.05 set at the Athens Games held firm.

Pawel Korzeniowski nearly broke his national record in the men's 200 fly with a time of 1:54.41. His 1:54.38 from the European Championships last month held firm, however.

Agata Korc, the national record holder in the women's 50 free with a 25.25 from 2006, wound up short of her standard with a winning time of 25.52.

Meanwhile, Mateusz Czarnota walked away with the men's 800 free title in 8:33.08, while Agnieszka Gapinska won the women's 200 fly in 2:14.37.
