NEW COMMIT: The University of Pittsburgh has received an in-state verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Oreland, Penn. native Andrew Pave.

A talented sprinter and breaststroker, Pave swims year-round with Upper Dublin Aquatic Club and most recently raced five events at Middle Atlantic Senior Championships. He recorded a pair of best times at the Tom Dolan Invite in December and capped off his long course season with a lifetime best in the 50m free at NCSAs last summer. Also competing for La Salle College High School, Pave raced the 50 free and 100 free at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championship during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to the University of Pittsburgh. I fell in love with the campus and everything else about the school the second I set foot on campus. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way!!! #H2P”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.36
  • 100 free – 47.08
  • 100 breast – 59.20
  • 200 breast – 2:09.85
  • 200 IM – 2:02.00

Pave has made significant improvements over the past three seasons, dropping two seconds in the 50 free, four in the 100 free, five in the 100 breast, 10 in the 200 breast and seven in the 200 IM. With over a year to go before suiting up for the Panthers, Pave will add valuable depth to Pitt’s free and breast training groups.
