Pepperdine Scores In-State Verbal From Caroline Eckel
NEW COMMIT: Pepperdine University has gained an in-state verbal for the fall of 2019 from Livermore, Calif. native Caroline Eckel.
Eckel does her club swimming with Pleasanton Seahawks under coach Steve Morsilli and owns the Winter Juniors standard in the 100 back. She raced four events at Far Westerns over the summer and recorded a pair of best times at Juniors West last winter. Also competing for Granada, Eckel has competed at the CIF State Championships each of her three high school seasons so far. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Pepperdine University! The combination of incredible academic opportunities and the amazing swim team makes Pepperdine really special. I could not have done it without my family, friends and coaches! Go Waves!”
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 56.11
- 50 free – 24.25
- 100 free – 53.21
When she suits up for the Waves as a member of the class of 2023, Eckel will make an immediate impact in their sprint group. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50 free and 100 free and her best 100 back time would’ve scored second at the 2019 PCSC Championships
