Patriot League Gives Out Weekly Laurels

CENTER VALLEY, Pennsylvania, November 21. THE Patriot League named its swimmers and divers of the week on Tuesday. American's Meghan Thiel (swimmer) and Holy Cross' Rachael Martinez (diver) earned the women's honors, while Army's Jake Mentele (swimmer) and Navy's Kevin Teague (diver) garnered the men's awards.

At the Patriot Invite hosted by George Mason, Thiel swam NCAA B Standard times and set meet records in the 500 and 1650-freestyle events. In the 200-free, the Eagle was about a second off from making another "B" time.

Mentele swam season-bests in the 100 and 200-breaststroke events finishing in 57.35 seconds in the 100-yard and two minutes and 23 seconds in the 200-yard. The Black Knight remains unbeated in the 200-breast this year.

Martinez won both diving events against Providence. The Crusader beat her closest competitor in the one-meter by almost 40 points and the three-meter by about 21 points.

Against Dartmouth and Brown, Teague won the one-meter by 50 points and the three-meter by 18 points. His scores were 324.4 points and 323 points, respectively.
