Pair of National Records Fall in Afternoon Session of Spanish Champs

BARCELONA, Spain, December 16. IN the afternoon session of the Spanish Championships held in Barcelona, Spain on Dec. 16, a pair of national standards fell.

First, Aschwin Wildeboer equaled his Spanish record in the 50 short course meter back. He won the event in 24.37, a time that tied his effort set on May 6, 2006. The effort stands as the ninth-fastest time swum this year.

Meanwhile, Mireia Belmonte nipped the Spanish record in the 400 SCM IM with a top time of 4:38.33. That time eclipsed the 4:38.36 set by Roser Vives on Dec. 21, 2001, and is the seventh-fastest time swum so far this year.
