Pacific 10 Championships: Nathan Adrian Smashes American Record in 100 Free

LONG BEACH, California, March 7. CALIFORNIA's Nathan Adrian blasted the American record in the men's 100-yard free as the relay leadoff of Cal's second-place 400-yard free relay at the Pacific 10 Championships.

A just missing the national record of 41.62 set by Anthony Ervin back in 2002 with a 41.64 during the individual 100-yard free championship finale, Adrian bounced back with a sterling time of 41.43 on the relay leadoff.

Cesar Cielo's NCAA and U.S. Open record of 40.92 remained on the books as set at the 2008 NCAA Championships.

Stanford's Alex Coville, Jake Allen, Jason Dunford and David Dunford won the race in 2:48.32, while Cal's Adrian, Graeme Moore, Josh Daniels and Bennett Clark took second in 2:48.62.
