Open Water Swimming In Texas

NORTH TEXAS. February 18. MARSHALL King recently launched NTX Open H2O to promote open water swimming in the states of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. "The NTX Open H2O website is non-profit. I am seeking only to publicize the sport I love and to create more opportunities for training and racing."

King, a former ultra-walker and ultra-runner, was injured and discovered open water swimming while undergoing physical therapy. "I ran less and began swimming as low-impact cross training. I discovered that I really enjoyed swimming, and a new interest was born."

The race calendar currently has the following lake swims posted:

Snapping Tortuga Open Water Swim (2.5K and 5K) on April 15th, May 6th and June 10th in Lake Conroe, near Houston, Texas

Money Box Cap 2K on May 5th in Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, Texas

D and J Open Water Swim Races (300m, 750m, 1500m) on June 2nd in Las Colinas, Texas

Swim Across America Dallas (1 mile, 2 miles) on June 9th in Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, Texas

Open Water Swim Challenge and Aquathlon on July 29th in Cottonwood Creek Marina, Little Elm, Texas

Tallchief Open Water Challenge (1 mile, 2 miles) on September 9th in Camp Tallchief in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, outside of Tulsa

Stonebridge Ranch Swim (750m, 1.5K) on September 29th in McKinney, Texas
