In her own unique way, North Baltimore Aquatic Club’s Becca Mann made her commitment to the University of Southern California known with a fun-filled picture on Twitter shown above.

Mann, a U.S. National Champion in open water competition, will spend her collegiate years being trained by USA Swimming’s open water head coach Catherine Vogt – an assistant coach at the University of Southern California.

Mann is ranked the third best recruit in the nation by CollegeSwimming.com and will provide some valuable distance freestyle points alongside the likes of Stanford’s Katie Ledecky when they both are competing at the NCAA level in a year. The Pacific 12 Conference distance events should be stacked with Mann and Ledecky.

Last summer, she finished fourth in the 800-meter free at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships and can definitely do some damage in the pool, but her likely focus should be in the open water.

Vogt’s current top open water pupil is Haley Anderson, an Olympic silver medalist in the 10K at the 2012 London Olympics.  So, Mann will definitely be training alongside the best after the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Cierra is transferring from Cal, which is in the same conference as ASU. She would have to sit out another year because of that.

I don’t have insight into Becca’s choice, but USC seems to be a college haven for Open Water swimmers.
