Olympic Bronze Medalist Reiko Nakamura Retires

TOKYO, Japan, October 6. TWO-time Olympic bronze medalist Reiko Nakamura announced her retirement today, according to Kyodo News in Japan.

Nakamura, 26, finished third in the 200 backstroke in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, and also has three bronze medals from the past two World Championships. She placed third in the 200 back at the 2005 Montreal meet, and third in both the 100 and 200 back at the 2007 Melbourne event.

She finished her career as the Asian record holder in both the 100 back (59.36) and 200 back (2:07.13).
