Ohio Swimming, Lake Erie Merge Into Unified LSC
The unified Ohio LSC begins its next chapter with a successful championship season, a major April event, and big goals for growth.
Ohio Swimming Inc. and Lake Erie Swimming have officially completed their merger into a single, unified Ohio Local Swimming Committee, creating a new statewide structure that leaders believe can strengthen the sport across Ohio for years to come.
Effective September 1, 2025, the merger brings together two former USA Swimming LSCs into one Ohio Swimming organization. According to the organization, it is the first merger of its kind within USA Swimming and marks a significant moment not only for the state, but for the broader sport. Ohio & Lake Erie Swimming Merger
For Ohio, the move creates a larger and more connected platform to support athletes, coaches, clubs, officials, and volunteers across the state. It also highlights the important role strong LSCs can play in helping grow the sport through better communication, stronger competition structures, and deeper engagement at the local and regional level.
The newly unified Ohio Swimming LSC now represents more than 90 clubs, 9,000 athletes, 800 coaches, 500 officials, and countless volunteers. That scale creates an opportunity to build a stronger shared identity while improving visibility, programming, and member connection across the state.
Ohio Swimming recently hosted its inaugural Short Course Championship season under the new structure, with Senior Championships at The Ohio State University and Junior Championships at the SPIRE Institute. According to the organization, athletes, coaches, volunteers, and spectators responded enthusiastically to the new statewide championship format, which exceeded expectations and demonstrated the strength of a unified Ohio.
Ohio Swimming will continue that momentum with Beyond the Blocks 2026, scheduled for April 25, 2026, at
The Ohio State University. The event will feature Olympic athletes, expert-led clinics, educational breakout sessions,
and additional programming designed to engage athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers.
The organization said the event reflects the new Ohio LSC’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and deeper engagement across its membership.
Ohio Swimming has also outlined a set of strategic priorities for the new LSC, including athlete-centered excellence, expanded pathways across the sport, membership growth and retention, community and corporate partnerships, intentional long-term development, and elevating Ohio on the national stage heading toward the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Strategic Priorities of the New Ohio Swimming LSC will include:
