Ohio Lords Over Kenyon

ATHENS, Ohio, November 3. THE Ohio swimming and diving team hosted its first home meet with victories over Kenyon on Friday. The men's squad (1-1, 0-1 MAC) won 191.5 – 99.5. The women's squad (2-1, 1-1 MAC) won 185 -107.

The Bobcats started the meet with the women winning the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:48.61. The winning team consisted of Emily Wylam (Yorktown, Va.), Karen Liddy (Piqua, Ohio), Carine Souza (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Ashley Marion (London Ontario, Canada). Altogether the women won 11 events.

Courtney Gallo (Lake Worth, Fla.) took first place in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:30.64). Ilse Petersen (Johannesburg, South Africa) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.13) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.16). Wylam won the 100-yard backstroke for the second week in a row (58.84). Leah Giancarli (Maineville, Ohio) won the 20-yard butterfly (2:07.62). Souza won the 100-yard freestyle (52.90). Sigal Simsolo (Kibbutz Yakum, Israel) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.63). Marion won the 400-yard individual medley (4:36.12).

For the men, Stephon D'Arrigo (Tucson, Ariz.), Brandon Stakleff (Akron, Ohio), Bobby Pampush (Rocky River, Ohio) and Andrew Belton (San Antonio, Texas) teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.74.

Luke Herlehy (Batavia, Ill.) won three events; including, the 1000-yard freestyle (9:43.79), the 500-yard freestyle (4:43.32), and the 400-yard individual medley (4:08.69). Jim Bayne took first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.58) and D'Arrigo took first place in the 100-yard backstroke (52.64). Stakleff won the 100-yard breaststroke (59.84). Belton won the 50-yard freestyle (21.83) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.58). Rob Ihasz (Akron, Ohio) won the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.46). Jason Reutter (Crown Point, Ind.) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.49).
