At last year’s Ohio Division 2 High School state championships Blatt swam the fly leg (22.57) of Dayton’s fourth place 200 medley relay. He also split a 20.98 going second on the team’s seventh place 200 freestyle relay. Individually, Blatt picked up a bronze in the 200 IM (1:52.52) and touched fifth in the 100 back (51.00).
Blatt said of his decision,
“I am excited and proud to declare my commitment to Eastern Michigan University! I am looking forward to becoming a part of the great swimming tradition at EMU. Go Eagles!”
The Eagles are the three time defending Mid-American Conference Champions. By the time Blatt arrives on campus next fall, the backstroke group will likely be led by Tosh Kawaguchi and Ricky Perez. For the 200 IM, Blatt will be able to train with Jake Tyson, Perez, and Kawaguchi, who will all be seniors.
