In the midst of his team’s mid-season training camp in Colorado Springs, Stanford women’s coach Greg Meehan joined Wednesday’s episode of Off Deck, the first of 2017.

Meehan, currently in his fifth season at the helm of the Cardinal’s women’s program, coached three athletes onto the U.S. Olympic team this past summer (Maya DiRado, Simone Manuel and Lia Neal) and served as an assistant on the coaching staff. His team finished second at last year’s NCAA championships and welcomed in a high-profile freshman class led by five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky.

In the video below, Meehan discussed with host David Rieder what it has been like coaching Ledecky, how she has fit into the team and why he thinks his Olympians were well-positioned to avoid any post-Games letdown. Meehan also explained he thinks Ella Eastin and Katie Drabot got out of their trip to the Short Course World Championships in Windsor last month. He also looked ahead to the NCAA championship season and reflected a bit on his Olympic experience.
