The University of Texas women’s team has been one of the most surprising stories in college swimming this season. After a disappointing 15th-place finish at last year’s NCAA championships, the Longhorns have lost only one dual meet this season despite an incredibly tough schedule. They have risen as high as No. 1 in the CSCAA Division I coaches’ poll.

To recap what has gone so well for Texas this season and to preview the upcoming Big-12 championships, head coach Carol Capitani called into this week’s episode of Off Deck.

In a conversation with host David Rieder, Capitani discussed what her team took away from last year’s disappointing NCAA performance and what it was like to beat Georgia and end the Bulldogs’ 103-meet home winning streak.

Capitani also reflected on what her current eight-person senior class that includes Madisyn Cox and Tasija Karosas has meant to the program. Capitani also discussed how Cox rebounded from barely missing this summer’s U.S. Olympic Team and detailed the experience the two had at the Short Course World Championships in December.
