Oakland Unviersity Secures Commitment from Tarek Aboelthana

Tarek Aboelthana of Alexandria, Egypt has committed to swim for Oakland University beginning in the fall of 2017. Aboelthana is a breaststroke specialist who has swum as a member of the Egyptian National Team. Aboelthana, who has Winter Junior National qualifying times in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, graduated from High School in 2016 and is currently swimming at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA where he is a member of their Post Graduate swimming program. While in Egypt, he swam year round for his club program, Smouha.

“I am really excited to join the Oakland swim program! Not only does Oakland have an outstanding academic program, but also an awesome coaching staff and training group. I can’t wait to be on campus and be a Golden Grizzly!”

His top times are as follows:

Short Course Yards:
100 Breaststroke – 57.09
200 Breaststroke – 2:03.48

Long Course Meters:
100 Breaststroke – 1:06.69
200 Breaststroke – 2:26.57
