North Carolina Championships

CARY, North Carolina. March 30. THE Greenville Swim Team(GSC) came out on top during the 2010 North Carolina Swimming Short Course Yard Championships.

Cari Blalock from the Waves of Wilmington Swim Team impressively won six events individually including the 100 free (53.21), 200 free (1:55.99), 100 back (57.80), 100 breast (1:07.99), 100 fly (56.59), and 200 IM (2:08.81).

Other multiple event winners included Casey Cooper of SSS and Sarah Morgan Pou of GSC. Cooper swam to wins in the 200 back (2:11.47) and 200 fly (2:28.47). Pou won the 500 free (5:17.27) and 400 IM (4:47.44).
The GSC women won the 200 free relay (1:43.48) and the Waves of Wilmington won the 200 medley relay (1:53.69).

Travis Johns from the Waves of Wilmington won five individual events including the 200 free (1:43.91), 100 back (51.76), 200 back (1:52.70), 200 fly (1:58.91), and 200 IM (1:56.90).

Also winning multiple events was Shawn Hunter of WBST, Cody Shaw of GSC , and Bobby Bittner. Hunter took the sprint freestyle events by winning both the 50 free (21.93) and 100 free (47.98). Shaw won the 200 breast (2:16.66) and 400 IM (4:25.13) and Bittner swam to first in the 100 breast (1:01.01) and 100 fly (52.18).

The Waves of Wilmington men took the win in the 200 free relay (1:29.99) while GSC placed first in the 200 medley relay (1:41.34).
GSC won the championships with 4,269 points, the Waves of Wilmington came in second with 3,214.5 points, and the Gold Y Sharks came in third with 1,474.5 points.
