Phelps touched out Spann by just .11 in the sprint breaststroke, 1:02.54 to 1:02.65. Phelps returned later in the session to win the 100 fly in 52.48, just off his 10th-ranked time of 52.41 from the Charlotte UltraSwim in May.

Athens Bulldogs' Chelsea Nauta, who swam with NBAC in Colorado Springs, just beat her University of Georgia teammate Allison Schmitt in the 200 free, 2:01.87 to 2:02.11. Schmitt is swimming this summer as a member of NBAC. Felicia Lee, also of NBAC, claimed third in 2:03.88. Lee also finished third in the 100 breast, where she clocked 1:14.87.
