Nick Driebergen Sets Dutch National Long Course Record

SLOTERPARKBAD, Amsterdam, June 1. NICK Driebergen set a Dutch national record in the 200 back at the Dutch Long Course National Championships held in Sloterparkbad, Amsterdam from June 1-3.

Driebergen clocked a 1:59.26 in the event to eclipse the 2:00.06 set by Olympic silver medalist Klaas-Erik Zwering at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

In other action, Moniek Nijhuis touched in 1:10.03 in the women's 100 breast, while Robin van Aggele hit the wall in 2:01.35 in the men's 200 IM for meet records.

Other men's winners included Sebastiaan Vershuren (3:58.41 – 400 free), Thijs van Valkengoed (1:02.97 – 100 breast), Joeri Verlinden (2:02.38 – 200 fly) and Pieter van den Hoogenband (22.93 – 50 free). Women's wins came from Inge Dekker (4:15.25 – 400 free), Wendy van den Zanden (2:18.48 – 200 back), Marleen Veldhuis (2:16.04 – 200 fly), Ranomi Kromowidjojo (25.47 – 50 free) and Femke Heemskerk (2:17.67 – 200 IM).

Additionally, Manon van Rooijen (57.82), Linda Bank (56.68), Chantal Groot (56.26) and Heemskerk (55.34) broke the Dutch national record (3:47.87) in the women's 400 freestyle relay in 3:46.10.
