Nick Albiero Downs Nate Dusing State Records In Prelims of Kentucky High School State Champs

The Kentucky high school state championships got started today in impressive fashion with a number of state records falling in prelims.

On the boys side, St. Xavier led the way in all three relays and three individuals took two top seeds a piece in prelims.

In the 200 medley relay, Martin Nitzken, Keefer Barnum, Conner Kang, and Miachel Wastman ran away with the top spot, stopping the clock in 1:33.86.

Nicolas Albiero of Christian Academy downed a twenty year old state record in the 100 butterfly, stopping the clock in 46.77. Nate Dusing set the record with a 47.10 in 1997.

In the 100 backstroke Albiero took down another one of Dusing’s marks. This time, the senior clocked a 47.59, nearly a half second faster than Dusing’s 48.07, also from 1997. Lex. Catholic’s Matt Menke was just over two seconds back with a 49.91.
