New Hampshire vs. Dartmouth

HANOVER, New Hampshire, January 21. THE Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team moved to 5-2 in dual meets with a 199-98 win over Granite State rival, New Hampshire at Karl Michael Pool on Saturday (Jan. 21). The Big Green, who won 13 of 16 events against the Wildcats, posted 1-2-3 sweeps in the 100 back, 100 butterfly and in the diving events to highlight the afternoon.

Meredith Sweeny (Hinsdale, Ill.) won the 100 back with a time of 59.23 while Galen Barry (Wayne, Pa.) took second with a time of 1:00.21 and Rebecca Butler (West Orange, N.J.) rounded out the Big Green contingent with a time of 1:00.22. Valerie Orellana (Arleta, Calif.) took the 100 fly with a time of 57.64 and was followed by Kendall Farnham (Severna Park, Md.) with at time of 58:06 and Caitlin Nicholson (Ithaca, N.Y.) took third with a time of 59.32.

Dartmouth opened the meet with a win in the 200-medley relay. Orellana, Charlotte Williams (Boca Raton, Fla.), Farnham and Siobhan Hengemuhle (Boulder, Colo.) won the event with a time of 1:48.97 to open the scoring for the Big Green.

Williams had an outstanding meet for the Big Green with a win in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.09. The junior also posted a terrific in-season time in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.12, which earned her runner-up honors in the event.

Danielle Kerr (Gainesville, Fla.) picked up her fourth consecutive win in the 1000 free with a time of 10:24.44 and also win the 500 free with at time of 5:05.15 while Erin Henn (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and took third place with a time of 10:35.80. Christine Kerr (Gainesville, Fla.) also picked up a win in the 200 free with at time of 1:53.28.

The Dartmouth divers also had an excellent meet. Senior Erica Serpico (Moorestown, N.J.) claimed the 1-meter title with a score of 267.52 while junior Madison McClenney (The Woodlands, Texas) took the 3-meter competition with a score of 262.50.

The Big Green women will combine with the Dartmouth men to host the second annual Dartmouth Invitational Fri-Sat, Jan. 27-28. The event will take place at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt. Events will begin Friday night at 5 p.m.
