Two-time Olympian Brooke Bennett is setting out on a new adventure in the sport of swimming: coaching high school. According to USA Today High School Sports, Bennett has accepted and taken over the reigns as the head coach of the swimming and diving team for the 2017-18 year at Northeast High School in Florida.

Her husband, Jeremy Frioud, also has ties to coaching high school, serving as a football coach and teacher at Northeast High School.

Bennett explained to the Tampa Tribune

It was definitely something that I wanted to try. I know (Frioud) wanted me to know about the not so glamorous side of coaching. I’ve been through this and I know it’s not all glamour. There’s all this paperwork, which is stuff I never had to do. There’s like 15 things that have to get done.

Northeast has typically been competitive throughout the season and, according to the Tampa Tribune. that does not appear to be changing this year. With approximately 40 swimmers on the team, Bennett will have her hands full balancing the different talent levels.

She continued by stating,

I want to set goals for each of them and then work hard with them to accomplish it. We have all different levels of swimmers and I want to make sure all of them reach the level they are capable of.

Bennett was a member of the 1996 and 2000 USA Olympic teams, collecting gold in the 800 free in 1996, before adding an additional two golds in both the 400 and 800 freestyles in 2000.
