NEW COMMIT: Bennington, Neb. native Rush Clark will head to the Sunshine State next fall after giving his verbal commitment to Florida State University as a member of the class of 2024.

Clark, who owns seven Summer Juniors standards, does his club swimming with Greater Omaha Aquatics and most recently placed eighth in the 100m fly at Junior Nationals after winning that event at Jenks Sectionals. Last winter, he achieved 100% best times at Juniors West where he finished eighth in the 200 fly before going on to record five top-10 finishes at Columbia Sectionals.

Also competing for Creighton Prep High School, Clark is a six-time Nebraska State Championship finalist and owns the state mark in the 100 fly. He won the 100 fly and 100 free as a junior after racing to second in the former event as well as sixth in the 200 IM during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to Florida State University. Thank you to my family, teammates, friends, and my coaches. Special shout-out to my parents, Coach Beck, and Coach Barton for helping me get to this point. Go Noles!!!!”

His best times include:

  • 50 fly – 22.15
  • 100 fly – 47.54
  • 200 fly – 1:47.28
  • 100 back – 49.77
  • 200 IM – 1:50.44
  • 50 free – 20.94
  • 100 free – 45.39

Clark’s versatility will be extremely beneficial for the Seminoles when he arrives in Tallahassee for the 2020-21 season and he could find himself in a number of different events. He’s just on the outskirts of scoring range at the ACC Championships, but has made continuous improvements each season with a year of club swimming still to go before suiting up for Florida State.
