Autumn Haebig has verbally committed to the University of Nebraska. Haebig swims for Ozaukee Aquatics where she is primarily a backstroker and distance freestyler. Despite excelling in the mile, she has impressive speed for a 50 backstroke, giving her future college coaches some options.
Her best times are:
- 50 Back 25.29
- 100 Back 53.96
- 200 Back 1:59.44
- 200 Free 1:49.49
- 500 Free 4:52.12
- 1000 Free 9:58.46
- 1650 Free 16:42.82
Haebig’s versatility gives the Nebraska team some conference level points. On the Big Ten level, she’d be a 100 backstroke B finalist at last year’s meet in an event where the team did not score any points. She’d also score in the 1650. In the 200 backstroke and 500 freestyle Haebig is not far from the top 24. Last year Nebraska’s top miler was Katarina Sickle (17:02.07). The team’s fifth place 800 freestyle relay had splits ranging from 1:46.71 to 1:49.42. With a little drop, Haebig could find her way onto a relay spot as well.
Madison Coughlen has also given her commitment to be a member of the Class of 2021.
I'm extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Nebraska! Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates. #GBR pic.twitter.com/f4yoclZQdL
