NCAA Men’s Championships: Showdowns Begin (Day 2 Prelims Heat Sheets)

The first full day of the 2024 Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships from Indianapolis is upon us.

The prelims events are the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle before 1-meter diving prelims.

The top seed in the 500 freestyle is Arizona State’s Leon Marchand, who broke the NCAA record in the 200 freestyle leading off the 800 free relay on Wednesday.

He will be flanked by Florida Olympian Jake Mitchell and Cal junior Gabriel Jett in the seventh and final heat of prelims.

DAY 2 HEAT SHEETS

His ASU teammate Zalan Sarkany has the second overall seed and is in lane 4 in the sixth heat.

In the 200 IM, Arizona State’s Hubert Kos has the top seed and will be flanked by Stanford’s Ron Polonsky and Michigan’s Gal Groumi in the eighth and final heat of the event.

Earlier heats will see Arizona State’s Owen McDonald, Texas A&M’s Baylor Nelson, Cal’s Destin Lasco and freshman upstarts Will Modglin of Texas and Daniel Diehl of NC State.

In the 50 free, Tennessee junior Jordan Crooks is the defending champion and the top seed, the only one in the field to break 18 seconds this season.

In the eighth and final heat, he will have Arizona State’s Jack Dolan and Ilya Kharun.

Earlier heats will see Florida’s Josh Liendo, Virginia Tech’s Youssef Ramadan, Cal’s Bjorn Seeliger and Jack Alexy, Virginia’s Matt Brownstead and Notre Dame’s Chris Guiliano.
