NCAA Division I Women’s Champs: Hawaii’s Emma Friesen Wins One-Meter Diving Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 20. EMMA Friesen, representing Hawaii, claimed the one-meter diving title at the NCAA Division I Championships.

Friesen edged Texas' Mary Yarrison, 336.20 to 331.60, for her school's second title in the event. She joined only Qiong Jie Huang, who won the one-meter with 327 points back in 2005.

Friesen nailed her final dive (a reverse 1.5 somersault with 1.5 twists) for a tally of 61.10. Friesen never dropped below 50 points throughout the six rounds with point-tallies of 55.20, 54.60, 58.65, 50.40, 56.25 and 61.10 en route to the victory.

Indiana's Brittney Feldman rounded out the top three with 323.75 points.

The top five remained the same with only Tennessee picking up diving points. Arizona (111), Auburn (98), Texas A&M (70), California (61) and Tennessee (59) made up the top five.
