NC State’s men’s and women’s swimming teams swept a dual meet with Duke Saturday, the sixth-ranked men winning 167-92, and the No. 4 women claiming a 163.5-93.5 decision over No. 16 Duke.

Both teams remain undefeated on the season with two meets remaining.

Kylee Alons led the way for the women with a pair of individual wins. The junior claimed the 200 freestyle in 1:47.76, then took control of the 200 back in 1:55.59. Both keyed 1-2-3 finishes by the Wolfpack.

Alons also led off the capping 400 free relay with Katharine Berkoff (winner of the 100 freestyle), Sirena Rowe (champ in the 50 free) and Sophie Hansson. The latter three paired with 100 breaststroke winner Heather Maccausland to open up with a winning 200 medley relay.

Yara Hierath added wins in the 500 and 1,000 free for NC State. Julia Poole won the 200 individual medley, Emma Muzzy claimed the 100 backstroke and Andrea Podmanikova was first in the 200 breast.

Duke’s high-water mark in the women’s meet was the 200 butterfly, won by freshman Catherine Purnell in 1:59.87, with teammate Cabell Whitlow second. Sarah Foley won the 100 breast, and Whitlow was quickest in the 100 fly.

The distance contingent led the way for NC State’s men. It was a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1,000 free behind Eric Knowles’ winning time of 9:13.17, then the Wolfpack monopolized the top four spots in the 500 free, Noah Bowers leading the way.

Noah Henderson swept the two butterfly events, and Luke Miller won the 200 free and 200 IM.

Duke started with a win in the medley relay, the squad of David Hallaron, Cole Reznick, Charlie Gingrich and John Day winning in 1:30.19. Reznick won the 200 breast, and Gingrich claimed the 50 free.

“We swam incredibly well — what a way to send out the seniors,” Duke’s associate head coach Doak Finch said in a release. “We were a little short on personnel, but everyone that was here swimming fought until the end and showed what this team means. We had numerous great swims. We had people swimming tough and fighting through things.”
