Continuing the record-breaking week, the NC State quartet of Ryan Held (41.09), Jacob Molacek (41.07), Mark McGlaughlin (42.24) and Justin Ress (40.35) produced an NCAA and American record time of 2:44.75. This mark blew away the old record, held by Texas, of 2:45.39.

That 41.09 lead-off leg from Held marks him as the sixth fastest performer in history, just .01 behind fellow US national-teamer Nathan Adrian.

Indiana’s squad threw down a 2:47.11 to earn the second spot heading into tonight’s A final with the Texas Longhorns right behind in the third seed with a 2:47.31. Auburn’s team will round out the A final with their time of 2:49.30.

Florida’s relay, which currently sits fourth going into tonight, featured a 40.15 split from their go-to guy, Caeleb Dressel.

Leading the B final tonight will be Stanford’s squad who produced a 2:49.84.
