Madeline High has given her verbal commitment to the College of William and Mary. High is a strong butterflier from Raleigh, North Carolina, where she swims for the Marlins of Raleigh.

High explained,

“I chose the College of William and Mary because I love the campus, team atmosphere, and coaches. There is a perfect balance between academics and swimming. I can’t wait to be a part of the tribe community!”

Her best times are:

  • 50 Fly 25.55
  • 100 Fly 54.45
  • 200 Fly 2:03.99
  • 100 Back 56.96

High attends Ravenscroft School and is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She is the defending NCISAA 3A state champion and state record holder in the 100 butterfly (55.26). At the 2016 state meet, she also finished runner up in the 100 backstroke (57.38). On the Ravens’ way to their fourth consecutive state title, High was also a pivotal piece of the winning 200 medley relay and the runner up 400 freestyle relay squad.

The Tribe won the 2016 CAA Championships and High will be a point scoring contributor. At last year’s meet, her best 100 butterfly time would have placed third, just .06 shy from the NCAA B cut. Three Tribe swimmers were in that A final. She would have been a B finalist in the 200 butterfly and would have just missed the consolation final of the 100 backstroke. As one of the Tribe’s top butterfliers, High will have a chance to compete for medley relay spots as well when she arrives in Williamsburg next fall.
