Namesnik Memorialized Tonight

ANN ARBOR, Michigan, January 11. ERIC Namesnik, who passes away a year ago today, will be honored in a memorial service in Ann Arbor, Mich., at 6 p.m. tonight.

The service will take place at the First Congregational Church for Namesnik, who was critically injured in an auto accident shortly before passing away on Jan. 11, 2006.

Namesnik, known to his friends as "Snik," won silver medals in the 400 meters individual medley at both the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and the '96 Games in Atlanta. In Atlanta, he and his Michigan teammate, Tom Dolan, waged a titanic battle, before Dolan touched a scant 35-hundredths of a second ahead of Snik.
