Munster Swim Club’s Grant Afman Lends Verbal Commitment to Air Force

NEW COMMIT: Munster, Ind. native and butterfly specialist Grant Afman has pledged his verbal commitment to the United States Air Force Academy and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2020.

Afman, who owns a pair of Summer Juniors standards, swims year-round with Munster Swim Club and most recently raced two events at Juniors East last month. This past summer, he raced to eighth in the 50m fly at NCSAs after taking 10th in the 100m fly and 11th in the 200m fly at Indiana LCM Seniors. Also competing for Munster High School, Afman was the 100 fly runner-up at the Indiana State Championships as a junior after finishing seventh in that event during his sophomore season.

His best times include:

100 fly – 48.40
200 fly – 1:50.32
50 free – 21.52
100 free – 46.76
200 free – 1:43.52
500 free – 4:35.53

Afman will add valuable depth when he suits up for the Falcons as a member of the class of 2024. He would’ve scored in the B-final of both the 100 fly and 200 fly at the 2019 Western Athletic Conference Championships where Air Force finished fourth overall in the team standings.
