Morning Swim Show: Winning Medal in Dubai Gave Matt Josa Renewed Motivation

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 30. MATT Josa joins today’s edition of The Morning Swim Show after impressive performances at last weekend’s Royals Invite.

Josa talks about winning the 200 free and placing second in the 200 IM behind Ryan Lochte, all while battling the flu. He talks about the lessons he learned from the races, including how to mentally prepare to swim against some of the best in the world. Though he would have done well at a Division I school, Josa talks about why Division II school Queens stood out for him, not the least of which is the fact that it’s in his hometown of Charlotte, N.C., and has a great coach in Jeff Dugdale. Josa was having trouble finding focus in his swimming before heading to Dubai for the junior world championships last summer, but he said the bronze medal he won in the 100 fly gave him more motivation to work harder and concentrate on what can make him a better swimmer.
