Morning Swim Show: Jeff Cooper Talks Past, Present and Future of NCSA Juniors


PHOENIX, Arizona, March 7. THE junior national championships always features top-notch talent, and on today's edition of The Morning Swim Show Oakland Live Y'ers head coach Jeff Cooper talks about what makes the meet so exciting — and fast.

Cooper, the treasurer and board member of the National Club Swimming Association, the organization that runs the spring juniors, says the YMCA Aquatic Center is the perfect venue for the meet because of its vicinity to a large number of hotels and its environment that creates an atmosphere to get teams excited. He said it still attracts swimmers such as Katie Ledecky and Jack Conger because it is one of the few team-oriented championships for younger swimmers in the country. Cooper also discusses the plans for a summer championships, and details the rich history of the Live Y'ers, which includes the popular Vanderkaay family.
