Morning Swim Show: Chris Van Slooten Developing Leaders at Fork Union

PHOENIX, Arizona, June 12. CHRIS Van Slooten joins today's edition of The Morning Swim Show to talk about being named to the American Swimming Coaches Association's Fellows program.

Van Slooten talks about the people who piqued his interest in the program and why he likes this year's research topic of leadership development in coaching. He credits San Antonio coaches George Block and Derek Howorth as mentors, and talks about how they convinced him to move to San Antonio and coach swimming and teach for 19 years. Now at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, Van Slooten is in charge of swimmers that have a rigorous schedule but are bound by high expectations in how they conduct themselves at school and in the community. Van Slooten talks about his responsibilities as a coach and how he has worked to help the team grow in his two years there. Be sure to visit SwimmingWorld.TV for more video interviews.
