Before diving into this weekend’s action at the Mesa stop of the Arena Pro Series, Missy Franklin sat down with the media. A lot of the conversation focused on her Professional status, while she also spoke about how her 2016 preparation compares to where she stood before Olympic Trials four years ago.

Franklin discussed her excitement for this weekend, and for racing outside, and mentioned even having “one or two days of nice rest.”

As a still relatively new professional swimmer, Franklin talked about juggling her media and sponsorship obligations, and how things are different this year than they were in 2012 because of these engagements.

Franklin also reflected on how her relationship with coach Todd Schmitz has evolved and her confidence has grown as a result.

Despite the uptick in activity in her schedule, she also spoke about still getting her “bubble time,” to ensure that she is not too overwhelmed, and is still focused.
