Miranda Tucker Earns Three Wins So Far At 2018 Eric Namesnik Memorial Open

The 2018 Eric Namesnik Memorial Open is underway in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the Canham Natatorium, with several local Club Wolverine swimmers and a few international athletes making a big impact during the first two days of racing.

Austrian Olympian and Club Wolverine swimmer Felix Auboeck won a tight battle in the 200 free against German Poul Zellmann, taking the win at the wall 1:49.09 to 1:49.51. The two met again in the 400 free, with Auboeck pulling out a more decisive win in 3:51.76 to Zellmann’s 3:53.17.

The meet’s biggest event winner so far has been Club Wolverine’s Miranda Tucker, who won three events in two days on the women’s side, taking first in the 100 breast (1:09.71), 200 breast (2:31.47), and 100 fly (1:01.52).

Other notable swims so far include 17-year-old Chinese swimmer Zheng Xiaojing winning the 100 fly (53.80) and 15-year-old Wu Qingfeng in the women’s 50 free (25.21). Wu was followed by three DeLoof sisters in that event, with Catie DeLoof (25.64), Gabby DeLoof (25.98) and Ali DeLoof (26.22) taking 2-3-4 in the event.

The meet will conclude today in Ann Arbor with finals beginning at 6:00 PM EST.
