Minnesota Signs Diver Brown

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, November 10. UNIVERSITY of Minnesota diving head coach Jason Baumann announced today that Andrew Brown has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Minnesota. The Centennial, Colo., native is a Senior National qualifier, an AAU National champion and a high school All-American.

"I am really excited to have Drew joining our program at Minnesota," Baumann said. "He comes from Mile High Dive Club coached by Jack Perkins and Jennifer Hess, a great program in Colorado that has produced several very successful Division I divers. Drew is one of the top diving recruits coming out this year. He is a hard worker, with a great attitude, a great team leader, and I can't wait to work with him. He has already qualified for the Senior National Championships last summer. He will immediately make a positive impact on our team."

Brown, a senior at Grandview High School in Aurora, Colo., had an impressive 2006 season, finishing first on the 1-meter at the Junior Spring Regionals and second on the 3-meter. He went on to sixth on the 3-meter and seventh on the 1-meter at Junior Nationals and advanced to the finals in two events at the US Open. He achieved Senior National qualifying scores in two events as well. He also won the AAU National title on the 1-meter in 2006 and took sixth on the 3-meter.

Brown was named a NISCA High School All-American in 2006 after placing third at the Colorado State meet on the 1-meter. He placed eighth as a sophomore and ninth as a freshman. He holds the Grandview school record for six and 11 dives and recently trained in China with the US Junior Diving All-Star team and competed against the Shanghai Junior All-Stars.
