Mike Ross Continues FINA Masters World Record Run

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 15. ONE week after setting four new Masters world records at the Colonies Zone short course meters championships, Mike Ross swam under three more world marks at the New England regional championships.

Ross, 40, added the 50 back (26.11), 200 back (2:03.84) and 100 fly (55.82) to his impressive list of world records at Boston University. Incidentally, the 200 back world record he broke was just one week old: Chris Stevenson swam a 2:04.96 at the Colonies zone meet.

Also swimming fast at the meet was Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen, who swam under the world records in the 100 IM (1:06.39) and 200 fly (2:23.61) in the 45-49 age group.

Fred Schlicher and Michael Schmidt also joined in the fun, swimming under one world record time each. Schlicher, 60, swam faster than the world record in the 200 fly in the 60-64 age group with a 2:30.18. Schmidt, 46, swam the 400 IM in 4:48.12, just under the world record of 4:48.17.

Special thanks to Ed Gendreau for the update.
