Mid-American Conference Championships: Day Two

OXFORD, Ohio, February 25. THE University of Toledo swimming and diving team continued to maintain its lead after day two of the MAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships at the Nixon Aquatic Center at Miami University. Toledo leads the Championship with 260 points, followed by Ohio University with 218 points. Eastern Michigan (166) and Akron (163) round out third and fourth place respectfully.

Toledo’s junior Jacy Dyer set a MAC record in the 500 Yard Freestyle as she hit the wall in a time of 4:44.23 to open the evening’s first event. Toledo continued to set the pace as Dyer’s early achievements were followed by Rockets freshman Carly Harter, who won the 200 Yard IM in a time of 2:01.48.

In the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle, Ohio’s Annie Donovan led the conference with a time of 22.69. Ohio also fared well in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay as the team of Donovan, Chelsey Bower, Rachel Heim and Lauren Funk won with a finals time of 1:30.47.

In the 1 meter Diving competition, senior Meili Carpenter of Buffalo won with a finals score of 301.45.

Friday’s action will include prelims in the 400 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke in the first session. The second session will feature the finals in those five events as well as the three meter diving finals and 400 Medlay Relay finals.
