Michigan Swimming Suspends Bulk of Men’s Team For Week

ANN ARBOR, Michigan, September 8. WITH the collegiate season just around the corner, Michigan's head coach Mike Bottom has suspended all of the men's team other than the freshman for a week after an unrevealed violation of team rules.

“What is clear at this point is that the upperclassmen on the men's swimming and diving team acted in a manner that was inconsistent with our rules, policies and expectations for a student-athlete at Michigan,” Dave Brandon, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics, said in a statement. “We have suspended them from all team activities for a period of one week's time.”

Michigan also noted that it would have no further comment on the situation, and that additional punishment would be handled by the team.
