Michael Andrew Tops 50 Fly Prelims During Day Four of the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Michael Andrew of the USA topped the qualifiers list for semi-finals of the men’s 50-meter fly during prelims of day four with a time of 23.68. Andrew’s time sits only .07 off of Daniel Bell’s 2008 championship meet record of 23.61 so look for him to challenge that tonight.

Ukraine’s Andrii Khloptsov posted a quick time of 23.93 to claim the second place seed and be the only other swimmer under the 24-second mark. Khloptsov added slightly to his seed time of 23.90.

Croatia’s Bruno Blaskovic turned in a time of 24.15 to finish third in the event for prelims.

Spain’s Alberto Lozano grabbed the fourth place seed with a time of 24.24, adding slightly to his seed time of 24.17.

Brayden McCarthy of Australia and Daniil Pakhomov of Russia turned in matching times to tie for the fifth place seed. McCarthy posted a 24.27 from heat five and Pakhomov matched his time in heat seven.

Michal Chudy of Poland took seventh overall with a time of 24.29, while Russia’s Vladislav Kozlov was eighth with a final time of 24.31.

Poland’s Pawel Sendyk (24.46), Mexico’s Jorge Iga (24.49), USA’s Ryan Hoffer (24.57), Australia’s Dominic Jack Richardson (24.66), Brazil’s Vinicius Lanza (24.73), Slovakia’s Tomas Puchly (24.74), Ukraine’s Sergii Shevtsov (24.74), and Belgium’s Dries Lutgarde J Vangoetsenhoven (24.79) complete the top sixteen qualifiers.
