Miami Ohio RedHawks Pick Up Trio of Verbal Commitments from Lauren Murray, Emily Rinker, Maggie Stock

NEW COMMITS: Miami University (Ohio) has received a trio of verbal commitments for the class of 2025 from Greenville, S.C. native Lauren MurrayEmily Rinker of Fort Collins, Colo., and Maggie Stock of Fort Wayne, Ind.

All three talented swimmers will arrive in Oxford at the start of the 2021-22 season. Under head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron, the RedHawks finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 MAC Championships.

LAUREN MURRAY

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I chose Miami University for the great academics and the amazing feel I got while on campus. I am so excited to be a part of the Redhawk family!”

A versatile swimmer, Murray does her club swimming with Team Greenville and most recently registered five top-10 finishes at South Carolina Seniors in February. Last summer, she grabbed bronze in the 400m free at South Carolina LCM Seniors before going on to achieved four best times at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 500 free – 5:00.50
  • 1000 free – 10:15.53
  • 100 back – 57.80
  • 200 back – 2:03.40
  • 400 IM – 4:29.32

Also competing for JL Mann High School, Murray is a six-time South Carolina 5A State Championship finalist. She was the 500 free runner-up and took 16th in the 100 back as a junior while finishing first and seventh, respectively, in those events during both her freshman and sophomore seasons.

EMILY RINKER

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m the happiest girl in the world right now to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Miami University! I want to specifically thank the Miami coaches that made this process so comfortable and easy for me. I don’t know how I got so lucky to get to join such an amazing team. Love & Honor!!”

Primarily a backstroker, Rinker swims year-round with Fort Collins Area Swim Team and raced three events at Juniors West in December. She collected the bronze medal in the 200m back at the Colorado LCM Open and notched four lifetime bests at Mount Hood Sectionals last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.65
  • 100 back – 56.57
  • 200 back – 2:00.40
  • 400 IM – 4:21.93

Rinker is also a six-time Coloriad 5A State Championship finalist while competing for Fossil Ridge High School. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed ninth in the 200 free and 18th in the 100 back during her junior campaign while taking ninth in the 100 back and 13th in the 200 IM as a sophomore.

MAGGIE STOCK

She told Swimming World:

“I’m beyond excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Miami University! Thank you to all of my family, friends, teammates and coaches who have supported me throughout my journey. Go RedHawks!”

Stock, who trains year-round with Summit City Aquatics, finished fifth in the 400 IM and seventh in both the 50 free and 100 back at Indiana Seniors in 2019. Last long course season, she earned 100% best times at Indianapolis Sectionals before going on to take 15th in the 200m IM at Indiana LCM Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 50.99
  • 200 free – 1:52.44
  • 200 back – 2:03.52
  • 200 IM – 2:03.98
  • 400 IM – 4:25.19

A rising senior at Homestead High School, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is a five-time Indiana State Championship finalist. Stock placed 12th in the 200 IM and 13th in the 100 free during her junior season while taking ninth and seventh, respectively, in those races as a sophomore.
