FINA World Swimming Championships
Gwangju 2019
Day Eight Finals (Men’s 4×100 Medley Relay)
The relay orders for the men’s 4×100 medley relay were released prior to the start of the final night of the 2019 FINA World Swimming Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. Russia is the top seed and they will have Evgeny Rylov, Kirill Prigoda, Andrei Minakov and Vladimir Morozov on their team tonight, bringing in Morozov and Prigoda.
The United States has won six of the last eight World titles in this event and they will be tough to beat tonight. Ryan Murphy, Andrew Wilson, Caeleb Dressel and Nathan Adrian will swim on their team as Adrian will set to anchor the team for the fifth straight World Championships.
Russia and the United States look to be the gold medal favorites on paper as Australia and Great Britain pose serious threats. The Aussies are slightly weak on the butterfly leg with Matthew Temple placing sixth in the individual 100 fly final but they will be competitive with Mitch Larkin, Matthew Wilson and Kyle Chalmers. All three of those guys have won medals this week in individual events as the Australians are looking to win their first World title in this event since 2007.
Great Britain will also pose a serious threat with Luke Greenbank, Adam Peaty, James Guy and Duncan Scott. Greenbank and Scott picked up bronzes in the 200 back and 200 free respectively as they have a very strong team, placing second at the last Worlds and Olympics. Peaty set a world record in the 100 breast this week and Guy has always stepped up on relays.
